After picking up my pass and going downstairs into the venue, I saw that the barriers were pushed right up against the stage. No pit then! I took up position at the front and hoped my bladder would hold out! When the first band took to the stage, they asked for the lights to be switched off. Seriously?! Who goes out to listen a band?! Everyone I ever speak to goes out to see a band! I wasn't there to shoot them, so I just brushed it off, took a couple of test shots (with and without a flash) and tried to get "into it".
When Trophy Wife set up, I noticed that they had their own little lights (red!), so I kind of knew what to expect. The flash stayed on!
Even though Trophy Wife aren't usually my cup of tea, I actually really enjoyed their set, especially the "drummer".
I stuck around to take a couple of shots of the headliners Esben and the Witch (see previous Blog) but seeing as I wasn't really there to shoot them, I decided to make space for the other photographers after a couple of songs.
